Update on Services & Activities

Dear James River Family,

I want to inform you regarding James River's response to the coronavirus impacting our community. This difficult decision is made out of prayer and thoughtful reasoning.

For the next two weeks, we are canceling all services at our church. This includes the 9am and 11am service, Wednesday night services, spring banquet, and any other meetings at our church.

Two reasons led the deacons and I to make this decision:

First, we care deeply about the health and well-being of our church family, so we want to limit the potential exposure to our members.

Secondly, we want to be conscious of the impact to our community at large and want to do our part in curtailing the spread of the virus in the community.

The Church is not a building, or a service, or a program. The Church is the body of believers who are joined together through their commitment to Jesus.

For the next few weeks we will have to adjust to being a church without having group meetings. We will update our church through emails, Facebook, and website. Deacons will be checking in with the people in their Care Groups through phone calls. We are working on livestreaming messages on Facebook and Website. My past sermons are recorded on audio and located at jamesriverbaptist.org.

There are many needs in our fellowship and community. Let’s join together in prayer, loving concern, and actions to help people through this difficult time.

Please let me and/or your deacons know if we can help you in any way.

Paul reminds us in I Timothy 3:16 that, "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind." God is still in control.

God Bless you,

Pastor Scott
